My Crayons

I have a new obsession: Pinterest!!!!

Some of you might say "Good Morning!" to me but somehow I just got a hold of the craze! I can spend hours hanging out in pinterest!

Being a bachelor of fine arts, I love drawing with crayons. The texture, the smell, the names, the colors everything... While hanging out in Pinterest I saw these DIY crayons and just had to try them.  The ones I made are not in specific color codes but I think they still look pretty! In the website the maker is preparing them for Valentine's Day which is a cute idea but I am not very big on those kind of dates.
They are super easy to make,
I got the the crayons from a stationary and the heart shaped silicone baking molds from Tantitoni.

Wax crayons melt very easily in the oven so any silicone mold shape would work for this.

PS: Next week I will be in Singapore - Bali so I won't be able to post anything, however, the week after I will be writing about my very exciting trip. So stay tuned foxies.

I'll be back!

Monsters On My Desk...

Oh how I love Meredith Dittmar's art...
The doughy feeling of polymer clay and the pastel colors...

I always liked playing with clay and making stuff out of it. I really can't  get enough. So getting the inspiration from Meredith Dittmar I had to at least try making my own monsters. I got some Fimo from the stationary near by and started... There are other brands of polymer clay in Istanbul too but Fimo had all the good colors. Here are some of the monsters I made....

After creating a few monsters I've decided to make id cards for them. The ID cards have their names, birth dates, likes, dislikes and their special powers.

Sorry the name tags are in Turkish...

When I was creating these characters I was thinking about friends and family. Some of these were birthday presents, some of them were sold and some of them are still sitting on my desk helping me write this very post :))

Well Hello There 2012!

I hope everybody had a great New Year's. Starting from last month I had such a great excitement for this coming year. I was pumped to decorate my home, make close friends and family presents and even organize a small party at home. Usually I am not this excited for the coming years but this year something feels different so, I did all the things that came to my mind.

To make the house look New Yearsy I need a tree. Last year I wanted to make a tree from balsa wood (which I saw @ Design*Sponge) but never had the energy and the spirit to do so. Since I had every material I needed form last year I made it this year.

Now that I had a tree, I could start thinking about the presents... Yet again I took Grace Bonney's (Design*Sponge)  advice and decided to make all the girls balms for the rough areas and scrubs for the face & body. I got the cute jars from Pasabahce and the small balm jars from Tahtakale. It's very easy to make your own scrub and you get marvelous results.

I've decided on 3 kinds:
Honey & Lemon which I named Honey Zesty Bunny
A spicy one : Sizzling Spice Shock
and a minty lavender kind : Lavender Frosting
For the scrub you basically need an oil base ( could be olive oil or almond oil), essential oils ( lavander oil, mint oil etc...) which can easily be found in the drug stores or in a spice shop, brown sugar or sea salt and you are good.

And for the balm you need;
honey wax (which can be found in spice shops)
vaseline
essential oils
and spices
I experimented with lots of kinds for the balm and came up with the names;
cinnahon, chillander, frozen honey, buzzing almond and sp.ice

After gathering all the materials I had to design labels for them, and the result was victorious!

Of course I didn't forget about the gents. For the gentlemen I prepared a hot chocolate mixture put in a mug which I got from IKEA. The mixture contains cocoa, sugar, spices and grated chocolate. when I was making the mixture the smell in house was irresistible!

After giving everybody their presents and hopefully making everybody happy, we had a great start of the year.

   Have a great year folks!

And a Fox is Born!

Hello everyone,

Last month I have decided to stack up my thoughts, the things I wanted to do, I like and I see. Therefore, I started keeping a wishlist book where I write all kinds of ideas that came to my mind. After a short while I realized these ideas and the process of achieving them is the primitive way of writing a blog. So here I am!

As I decided to write a blog I had to pick out a perfect name for it. "Foxhour" phrase goes back to my childhood. As a child I used to travel a lot with my family. In those trips as the day comes to an end, just before the pretty sunset, me and my brother's heart would pound with a little game we used to play with my dad. The game didn't have a name, we would impatiently ask my dad "Is it fox hour yet? ", he would check his watch, check the sun and the wind and say, " Hmm, in about 10 to 15 minutes". As he finishes his sentence my brother and I would start looking for that pretty silhouette. As your doubt would have guessed after those 10 to 15 minutes a fox would magically appear by the road we are passing.

This still remains an unsolved mystery in my life. Being so struck with this charm, right at fox hour the foxes will be running wild in my head and I will be sharing my little 2 cents with the world!

So welcome to my world!
